Our Work

Hydro Quebec

Client: Hydro-Québec

Project Goals

The world’s largest generator of hydro electricity, Hydro-Québec required a robust, flagship data centre to manage their operations. Destined to manage the electrical grid in the Quebec, the power and cooling systems in this facility required thorough testing. Ehvert was also engaged to manage and oversee integrated testing of each and every critical component.

Project Results

  • Ehvert performed the design of the facility and provided on-site construction coordination throughout the project, using a detailed building information model.
  • The facility was designed with a total end-state design IT load of 8MW and achieved Uptime Institute Tier III Design Documents certification.
  • Beyond the requirements of having a concurrently maintainable power and cooling system, this data centre features a 2N redundant electrical distribution system.
  • The cooling system installed at the data centre uses innovative KyotoCooling units that provide air-side economization with the use of a heat wheel. This highly efficient design results in a PUE of less than 1.3.
