Our Work

Shaw Data Centre

Client: Shaw Business

Project Goals

Shaw Business engaged Ehvert to design this data centre as an upgrade to an existing warehouse. This facility features concurrently maintainable, Tier III Design Documents-certified critical power and cooling systems. This colocation data centre has over 40,000ft2 of raised floor area to house its customers’ cabinets.

Project Results

This data centre takes advantage of Calgary’s cool climate with free-cooling pumped-refrigerant DX computer-room air conditioners, decreasing the energy consumption required to cool the facility and achieving a designed PUE of 1.4.

This facility is supplied power from two separate sub-stations with preferred and alternate feeds and has 3MW diesel back-up generators on-site in an N+1 configuration.

This is a highly secure data centre, with multiple security zones, high-definition video surveillance, biometric hand scanners, and locked cages and cabinets for colocation customers.

This data centre is contains a VESDA smoke detection system and a pre-action dry-pipe sprinkler system.

A leak detection system installed in this facility’s roof is able to detect any moisture in the roof, before it has penetrates the lower membrane, protecting the servers and critical equipment in the data centre.[:fr]Shaw Business engaged Ehvert to design this data centre as an upgrade to an existing warehouse.
